JUNE ROSS (EKSTRAND) SNYDER
Of Kailua, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 22, 2012, two days after her 93rd birthday. She was born on April 20, 1919 to parents Elton W & Mabel E Ekstrand, who later established the family home in Manoa where she and her younger twin siblings were raised. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, June attended Armstrong Business College in Oakland, California, before returning to Hawaii and working as a teller at Bank of Hawaii.
A resident of Kailua for the past 56 years, she is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James K. Snyder, her sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Ekstrand Thompson and her brother Thad Ekstrand. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Casey, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Kailua Beach Park on Saturday, May 26th at 7:30am. She will be taken by outrigger canoe into Kailua Bay where her ashes will be scattered to join her husband and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hawaii Humane Society, 2700 Waialae Ave., Honolulu, HI 96826
