FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ROBERT “SCOTTY” MEECHAN
ROBERT "SCOTTY" MEECHAN 92, passed away on April 23rd surrounded by family members in Bend, Oregon. He was born in Kirkintilloch, Scotland, on September 15, 1919. During World War II he served in the Royal British Navy on the famous British battleship, the Warspite, and was involved in the Battle of Normandy at Juno Beach. He was a member of the Normandy Survivors group. Robert came to the United States and married Colleen Smith on June 24, 1946. They lived in Oregon and California and later moved to Hawaii in 1965. He retired from Owens Corning in 1980 and in 1981 became the owner of Associated Insulation Company in Hawaii from 1981 until his retirement in 1996. From 1991-1992 he served as President of NIAC (National Insulation Contractors Assn) and later served 2 terms of the WICA (Western Insulation Contractors Assn). While in Hawaii, he founded PICA (Pacific Insulation Contractors Assn) and was past President. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Meechan; sister, Helen Stuart of Scotland; daughter, Nancy (Simons); sons, Howard and Kevin Meechan; nine grand-children; and eight great-grand-children.
