Carl Clayton Christensen Sr., 59, of Waianae, a retired Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Shop 72 rigger and Army veteran, died in Aiea. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Cecilia L.; sons Carl C. Jr., Clint C. and Caje C.; daughters Carla C. Burke and Cary C. Moniz; father Robert Sellers; brothers Reynold Mershon, Robert Joe Sellers and Paul, Bobby and Billy Christensen; sisters Ocie Kuhaulua and Lilly Armitage; 12 grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Services held.

RICHARD SOOKI CHUN, 91

Born June 5, 1920 in Waialua, Oahu, Hawaii, died May 2, 2012, in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a career military man, Maj. Richard S. Chun, USARet, served his country with distinction in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a highly decorated veteran, having been the recipient of many awards, including the coveted Legion of Merit. During his career, he also taught Korean at the Army Language School in Monterey. After retiring from the Army, he continued his government work with the National Security Agency. During the Vietnam War he made significant and innovative contributions for which he received commendations. His military and civilian careers took him and his family to Washington, DC, Virginia, Japan, California, Maryland, Okinawa, and Korea. He was an avid golfer. He loved the game and the camaraderie created throughout his playing days. He was the consummate host and entertainer, loved and admired by all whose lives he touched.

He was a loving husband to his late wife of 64 years, Frances, and father of the late Karen Chun Staub. He is survived by his, daughter Ginny Serikaku of Honolulu, son, Gregory Chun of Seattle, WA, and grandchildren, Sonia, Renee, and Richard Chun, and Dana [Ching] and Michele Serikaku, sister, Rose Lew of Honolulu, brother, Henry Shin of Orange County.

Committal service to be held private at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
