Born April 28, 1945, lost his battle with cancer on Memorial Day, May 28, 2012, at age 67 in Honolulu. Beloved Husband, Father, Friend, Teacher, Football Coach, Gourmet Chef, and well known Body Surfer at Walls and Point Panic; he is survived by wife, Gail Nakamura Matthews, son Christopher, (Gabrielle) Matthews, daughters Michelle (Ken) Swett and Danielle (Ron) Naus, stepdaughter Summer Lam, and grandfather to Tahani, Kainoa, Noelani, Keoni, Elizabeth, Christian and Kai. June 6, Wednesday, visitation at 5 p.m. and services at 6 p.m. at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. June 7, Thursday, meet at 8:30 a.m. at Duke Statue, Waikiki, for spreading of ashes.
