Joseph Hinano Lewi, 72, of Hilo, a retired heavy-equipment operator, truck driver and a Hawaii Army National Guard veteran, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Kealia, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Stephanie; sons Joseph Jr., Jason and Kalani Lewi, and Bernie Ku; daughters Jolian Sojot, Charline Souza, Josephine Sextimo, Carrie Ann Kekuewa, Rocky Lewi and Johnette Borling-Lewi; brother Walter; sisters Lillian Bungula and Charlotte Hinomiya-Lewi; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6 p.m. Friday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 7 p.m. Additional visitation: 8 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Services: 10 a.m. Burial at noon at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua section. Casual attire.
