CATHERINE GENE WITZ MCLENAHAN
Catherine Gene Witz McLenahan, known to family and friends as Casey, passed away on July 6, 2010, at the age of 89. n accordance with her wishes her body was bequeathed to the University of Hawai`i John A. Burns School of Medicine where she and many other generous donors were honored recently at the medical school's Willed Body Memorial Service. Her ashes were scattered off Waikiki following the service.
Casey was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 17, 1910, and lived there until she joined the Navy as a Wave in 1944. Her last assignment in the Navy was in Honolulu where she met her future husband Kenneth McLenahan. Casey was honorably discharged in 1946 and made Hawaii her home.
Through their company, she and Ken represented American Hospital Supply and Scientific Products for nearly 35 years. Following Ken's passing in 1980, Casey traveled extensively and volunteered for several years at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
Casey lived independently until the last few weeks of her life. She remained bright and alert to the end. She loved her family and friends and treasured the letters, phone calls and visits.
