80David Haili Kaawa Jr., 86, of Waiohinu, Hawaii, a retired grader operator at Kau Sugar Co., a cowboy and farmer, died at home. He was born in Kukuiopai, Hawaii. He is survived by sons Dennis, Dave, Larry and Eric; daughters Sarah Lazar, Doris Silva, Verna and Evon Kaawa, Gail Olson and Stephanie Mento; hanai son Henry Kaupu; sisters Ramona Marks, Evangeline Lacaden and Debranair Akau; 46 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Naalehu, Hawaii. Services: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Naalehu County Cemetery. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
