Dr. Herbert Makoto Kobayashi, 82, of Honolulu, a retired self-employed orthodontist and an Army veteran, died in Honolulu. He was born in Hono-lulu. He is survived by wife Ruth; daughters Leslie and Robin Kobayashi, and Anne Miyashiro; brothers George and Wallace; sister Nellie Matsunami; and five grandchildren. Private services.
