JOHN RUSSELL MUEH, M.D.
JOHN RUSSELL MUEH, M.D. John Russell Mueh, 64, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on June 9, 2012. An oncologist, retired, and former chief of hematology/oncology at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, He was born in Berkeley, CA on November 20, 1947. He received his B.S in Chemistry (with Honors) and Doctor of Medicine (President's Scholar) from the University of California at San Diego. He completed his internship and residency at Children's Hospital of San Francisco and his postdoctoral fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University Hospital in San Diego. He was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Medical Oncology. He was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Oncology. Among John's memorable activities was a year spent as the disc jockey for the Sunday afternoon jazz show on KPFA in Berkeley and playing clarinet (second chair) with the San Francisco Symphony. These led him to graduate with a minor in music at UCSD. As a life-long-learner, John found much joy during retirement attending classes at the University of Hawaii, language courses in France, and encouraging his grandsons to enjoy learning. He is survived by wife, Audrey Liu Mueh, step-daughter, Nicole Adam Jones, grandsons, Dawson and Wyatt Jones, brother, David (Diane) Mueh of Reno, NV and Palm Desert, CA, sister, Linda (Roger) Brown of Seattle, WA, hanai sister, Susan Mueh of Venice, FL, nephew Donald (Rachel) Mueh of Alexandria, VA, nieces Erin Brown of Seattle, WA and Emily Brown of Portland, OR, and grandnieces, Sarah and Ashley Mueh.
