MILDRED LAI
94, died June, 10th 2012 at her home with her family by her side.
Born November 23, 1917, in Honolulu, to Hee Shin Mau and Kim Oi Mau (Goo). She met Luke Lai on a pier when they were in high school and she just had to ask him to the dance- bold move for a woman in 1936. It was love at first sight. They later married Aug 16, 1941 and spent 47 wonderful years together. Mildred was always willing to lend an ear and help you find the answers without saying too much. Her quiet yet sharp sense of humor could make anyone laugh with just a couple of words. She was always one to remind us of the importance of the simple things in life.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Luke Lai in 1988; her devoted daughters, Lynette Pang in 2006, and Laura Chang in 2010.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her son, Leland Lai; grandchildren, Jeff Chang, Devan, Denton, & Dana Pang, Lynzee Lai, and; great grandchild Megan Chang.
Services will be held at the Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel on Saturday, July 21, 2012. A public viewing will be held from 9-10am followed by services. Burial at 11am. Dress attire will be Hawaiian casual.
