BEVERLY L. PORTER
BEVERLY L. PORTER June 9, 1920 - June 26, 2012 Beverly Lambert Porter was born June 9, 1920 in Tonica, Illinois, the daughter of Frances and Edward R. Lambert. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, graduating with a B.S. in English in 1942. She married Robert A. Porter on March 28, 1942, in Tonica, Illinois. Bob was a pilot who fought in World War II and the Korean War and then continued to have an Air Force career that took them to many parts of the United States. In 1967 they retired in Hawaii, where Bob died on April 26, 1969. Beverly returned to school after her children were grown, obtaining a Masters of Library Science degree from the University of Hawaii in 1969. . She worked in the Hawaii state library system as a children's librarian and as a cataloger in the central office, retiring in 1980. Beverly had three children: Vickie (Alfredo) Domingo of Mililani, Trudy (John) Schafer of Sacramento, CA, and Richard (Jane) Porter. Survivors include her daughters and daughter-in-law; her brother Edward R. (Ted) Lambert and sister-in-law Anna Lou Lambert of Tonica, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Melinda (Mike DiSalvo) Rhodes of Powell, OH; Robert (LeeAnne) Domingo of Mililani, HI; Kimberly Johnson of Portland, OR; Anne (Michael Buckley) Schafer of San Francisco, CA, Robert (Debbie Soo) Schafer of Cambridge, MA; Elizabeth (Corey) Grammas, Amanda (James) Cook, and Robert (Laurel) Porter of Gloucester, MA , Samantha (Daniel) Giddings of Cambridge, MA, and 18 great-grandchildren. Beverly loved music and served as organist at St. George's and Epiphany Episcopal Churches on Oahu. Funeral will be held at St Mark's Episcopal Church, 539 Kapahulu, Honolulu at 12 noon on July 17, 2012. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Mark's Episcopal Church, Honolulu.
