GLADYS
(CHERIE) RODGERS (AZEVEDO)
We are sad to announce the passing of Gladys (Cherie) Rodgers (Azevedo) on July 4, 2012 at age 88 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease at LifeCare in Hilo. She was born on January 17, 1924 in Makawao, Maui to Frank and Alvina Rodgers and was one of 9 children. Gladys was a beautiful lady who embraced plantation life to the fullest, throwing great parties which showed off her culinary skills. She was a great interior designer, artist and seamstress. Her love of life and her zany sense of humor will always be remembered.
She was the wife of the late Charles O’Neil and the late William Azevedo. She is survived by daughters Jean R. Robinson (Butch) of Honolulu, and Joan A. Stanghellini (Mike) of Riverside, CA. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
A huge thank-you to the nurses and staff at LifeCare-Hilo for their wonderful care and compassion shown to our mother.
Services will be at a later date. A Hui Hou
