James Kapakailiula Simmons Sr.
July 18, 2012 James Kapakailiula "Jim" Simmons Sr., 72, of Captain Cook, Hawaii, a head of maintenance for Makai Corp. at Sea Life Park, park ranger for Volcanoes National Park and Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, auto mechanic and Navy veteran, died in Kona Community Hospital. He was born in Kahului Beach, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Charlotte; son James Jr.; daughters Maile Piko and Lehua Valenzuela; brothers Allan and Jackie Makuakane, and Al, Kent, Moses and Jerry Simmons; sisters Mililani Naihe, Joyclyn Binney and Clementine Kong; and 13 grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. July 28 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keei ward. Services: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
