88, passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs earlier this year after a long bout with heart failure and Alzheimer’s disease. Millie was born in Honolulu to Georgina and Ernest Silva. She graduated from St. Andrew’s Priory School for Girls, and then married Anthony Duarte, a veteran of three World Wars, who predeceased her in 1978.
Millie is survived by her children Lani Robbins, Tony (Diane), Bernhardt, Curtis (Gayle), Dana, Scott (Susan), Stephanie Whalen, and Gary; thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; sisters Vivian Spencer and Donna (Butch) Soares; brother Frank Kahoohanohano Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Her brothers Robert and Ernest Silva predeceased her. Millie loved all sports; she especially enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a devout Catholic, had many great qualities and loved the simplicity of life. Millie will be greatly missed for her friendly ways and selfless giving to those she loved.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1701 Wilder Avenue (enter parking from Halekula Way). Visitation from 9:00 a.m., mass at 10:00am, followed by a committal service at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl, at 11:30 a.m. where Millie’s remains will be placed with her husband.
No flowers please. Donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, or a favorite charity.
