Joseph “Sonny” Hoohuli Jr., 81, of Nanakuli, a heavy-equipment operator at Grace Pacific and Kaiser Cement, died at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Emma; sons George and Issac Hoohuli, Harrison Brown, and James and Justin Woolsey; daughters Christine Hayes, Charlene and Kulani Hoohuli, April Apo, Robin Nahulu, Rosie Maestas-Hoohuli, Harriet Briones, Airleen Lucero, Sherleen Woolsey and Hallie Mae Robello; brothers Josiah “Black” and William; sister Mabel “Lin Choy”; 43 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday at Nanaikapono Protestant Church, 89-235 Pua Ave., Nanakuli. Services: 10:30 a.m. Scattering of ashes: 1:30 p.m. at Depots Beach Park. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
