Terrence Desmond Loui "Terry"
TERRENCE DESMOND LOUI "TERRY" Age 53 died at home on May 24, 2012, in Honolulu, Hawaii from complications secondary to strokes. Terry was born on March 5, 1959, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a retired information hardware and software technologist, local area network specialist and systems analyst. He was 7 years old when it was discovered he had a rapidly growing brain tumor. The prognosis was poor, and the doctors predicted he would live 5 years. He was given experimentally high irradiation treatments when the tumor could not be removed in the entirety. This resulted in extensive brain damages. He was on life sustaining drugs for many years and suffered from many TIA episodes and strokes. However, he survived 41 more years than prognosticated. He graduated from Punahou School in 1978 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982 in computer science from Chaminade University of Honolulu. The road he traveled was full of potholes and roadblocks, but he met each challenge with determination and great courage. While working at Wheeler Army Air Field in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was recognized by the Defense Information System Agency-Pacific area for answering and resolving over 300 trouble calls in a two months period for a varying staff of 60-100 people. He was honored as employee of the month for Region 9, which encompasses the West Coast and Pacific area, for his knowledge, efficiency and effectiveness. Prior to his medical retirement he worked for the Hawaii Department of Health, Health Information Systems Office and assigned to the State Health Insurance Program. He also did volunteer work for many non-profit organizations during his lifetime. Terry is survived by his mother, Florence J. Chinn, M.D. (Florence Chinn Loui), brothers; Professor Michael C.
