Hiroo “Porky” Furuya, 94, of Hilo, a retired Fred L. Waldron and Co. sales representative and an Army veteran who served in the 100th Infantry Battalion during World War II, died in Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by sons Glenn, Nathan and Dale; daughter Ann Hirokawa; sisters Sonoko Muranaka, Yasuko Taniguchi and Yoshiko Yamasaki; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Private services. No flowers. No monetary offerings.
