JOHN GILBERT LOPES
John, 75, was called home to our heavenly Father surrounded by his family on August 25, 2012. He was born in Hanamaulu, Kauai. He served in the U.S. Air Force, worked for Otis Elevator Co. and was an Elevator Inspector for the State of Hawaii before retiring. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed being with his family and friends.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, John will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, son, John L. (Kimberly) Lopes of Mt. Airy, MD., daughters: Michelle (Jay) McLaren, and Christine (John) Asing, Jr., grandchildren: Cody and Shelby Ford, Alexander Koa and Ava C. P. Asing of Hawaii, Samuel (Jenny) Morgan, Sarah Morgan, Kadin Turner (Lopes), great grandchildren: Alex and Ben Morgan of Maryland; sister, Hazel Marie Kosuga, brother, Abraham Nelson (Lana) Lopes of Kauai, uncle, Jack Amorin, aunt, Delphine Chamizo, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Tues., Sept. 18, 2012 at St. John Vianney Church, 920 Keolu Drive, Kailua. Visitation 9 am, Eulogy 9:45; Mass 10 am; Reception 11 am; Inurnment 1 pm at the Veterans Cemetery at Hawaiian Memorial Park, Kaneohe.
