75Al Kaleioumiwai Simmons, 78, of Hilo, a retired heavy-equipment operator, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hokumahoe, Laupahoehoe, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Janet; sons Mervin, John, Moses, Jeremiah, Simon and Carl Simmons and David Kaluna; daughters Joycelyn Binney, Katherine Nguyen and Evangeline Simmons; brother Kent; sister Mililani Naihe; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Visitation:5 p.m. Thursday at Church ofJesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hilo Stake Center. Additional visitation:8 a.m. Friday at the church. Services:10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
