ESTRELIA G. LOHMEIER
Passed away in Honolulu, Hawai’i on Friday, September 21, 2012. She was born in Kahuku, Hawai’i and grew up in Aiea and Honolulu. She attended Pu’uhale Elementary, Aiea Elementary and Intermediate, Sacred Hearts Convent, and graduated from Punahou School. She received a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Hawai’i and went on to get her Master’s Degree in Education. Estrel was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grand-mother, and friend. This summer she and her husband, Joseph, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Estrel was a retired elementary teacher who taught for 46 years; 12 years with the D.O.E. and 34 years at Punahou School. Estrel enjoyed playing guitar and piano, taking pictures, traveling, and writing new lyrics to popular songs for her friends and family members. Estrel is pre-deceased by father, Enrique Gascon, Sr., and mother, Esperanza Gascon. She is survived by husband, Joseph, Sr.; sons, Joseph, Jr. and Gavin; daughter, Bridget; sister, Enriqueta; brothers, Dr. Generoso and Enrique, Jr.; two grandsons and one great grandson; daughter-in-law and son-in-law. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Punahou School’s Thurston Chapel.
