Jonathan "Jody" Alvarez, 65, of Kekaha, Kauai, a U.S. Postal Service carrier and an Army communications center specialist, died in Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was born in Waimea, Kauai. He is survived by wife Rachel C.; sons Galen and Ian; mother Josephine; brothers Gilbert, Tommy, Brandon and Vincent; sisters Mary Alvarez-Manuel and Cordell Blair; and two grandchildren. Services: 5 p.m. Thursday at Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation: 9 a.m. Friday at St. Theresa Church, Kekaha. Mass: 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire.
