ESTHER EMIKO OKADA
Esther Emiko Okada, born March 25, 1950 in Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on October 19, 2012 at the age of 62. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Haruto Okada and Harue Okada of Honokaa, Hawaii. Esther graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute and continued her education at National College of Education in Evanston, IL. She received her MA in early education from California State University-San Francisco in 1973. After teaching at Island Paradise Annex School for three years, Esther began a long career in insurance with Fireman's Fund Insurance Company in 1976, where she concentrated on auto liability and workers' compensation claims. Her career continued at Leonard J. Russo, Inc. Beginning in 1989, she was employed by John Mullen and Company, Inc. as a senior workers' compensation adjuster. In her spare time, Esther enjoyed reading, shopping at craft fairs, relaxing in Honokaa and traveling, where Las Vegas was a favorite destination. Esther is survived by one aunt, numerous cousins and many dear friends who will remember her for her kindness and generosity. A service will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary (East Chapel). Visitation at 4:30 followed by service at 5:30.
