LYDIA EMMA KAHA'IPI'ILANI MILLER AMONA
LYDIA EMMA KAHA'IPI'ILANI MILLER AMONA Lydia Amona (January 10, 1923 - October 8, 2012) of Honolulu was born to Rose Mauliola Wood (Kahui) and Fred Miller in Koloa, Kaua'i. Raised by her mother and stepfather Edward Kahui, she had 12 siblings, including Lynn Kahui Burns. On July 4, she and William Ko'omealani Amona celebrated 70 years of marriage. Their children are Mokihana Kayatani (deceased), Nalani, Bryan, Kawena Gomes, Scott, and Koa. They have 12 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Lydia graduated from Waimea High School where she played sports, was in the band, and was the homecoming queen. She worked as an office manager for her husband's law practice and after retiring, served in the DOE Kupuna program sharing her Hawaiian cultural knowledge. Beloved mother and constant companion of her husband, she will be remembered for her regal grace, warmth, and quiet wit. Memorial: Fri., Nov. 9 at Kalihi Union Church 2214 N. King St, 3 pm Visitation, 4 pm Service.
