GAIL NAKAMURA MATTHEWS
Former Pan Am flight attendant, recently retired, Kalihi Uka Elementary School teacher and loving mother, Gail Nakamura Matthews, also known as Gail Nakamura Lam, died at home at the age of 67 on November 12, 2012. Born on March 12, 1945 in Honolulu, she graduated from McKinley High School, was an alumna of the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and the University of Hawaii, earning a master’s degree in teaching. Gail had traveled the world, taught and influenced the lives of hundreds of children and is well remembered for her cheerful and giving spirit. Adventurous and outgoing, Gail was also an avid SCUBA diver. She was married to the late LeRoy Matthews, and she is survived by her daughter Dr. Summer Lam and brother James Nakamura. Evening services will be held on Friday, November 30, at the Hosoi Mortuary at 30 N. Kukui Street, with visitation at 5 p.m and services beginning at 6 p.m.

ALYCE SATO TAKAMI
February 16, 1923- August 3, 2012 Alyce Sato Takami died peacefully in August in Seattle. Alyce was born in Honolulu to Tamiyo & Taichi Sato. She graduated from St. Andrew’s Priory in 1941. She was interned in Manzanar, CA before attending Beaver College in Pennsylvania. She married Suyehiko Takami & lived for many years in NY. She moved her family back to Honolulu in 1972 and most recently worked for Tiffany & Co. She is survived by sons Bruce, David (Wingate Packard) & John Takami (Roger Lorenzen), grandsons James & Robin Takami, Bob Sato, Larry (Laura) Sato, & Harriet (Glenn) Masunaga, Jane Sato, beloved nieces & nephews. A celebration of her life will be held in Honolulu on December 19th at Central Union Church (Atherton Chapel) at 4:00 pm, 1660 South Beretania St.

CAROL ANN SAKIMA MORI Carol Ann Sakima Mori, age 71 of Carson, CA passed away on 11/12/12. Carol Ann attended Roosevelt High (class of ’58) and graduated from San Jose City College. She was an active member in the Carson, CA community and volunteered her time at the Banning Museum. Carol Ann is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mitsuru, her daughter, Mitzi, her son Tim (Kathy) and grandkids, Josh and Traci Ann, her siblings, sister, Sharon, brothers Dean (Monique) and Gilbert (Yvonne), nieces Hillary, Heather (Danny), Jill and Nina, and nephews Tyler and Tommy.
