Nov. 6, 2012 Bernard Alani Sr., 88, of Keaau, Hawaii, a land clearing contractor, a farmer and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died at home. He was born in Hookena, South Kona, Hawaii. He is survived by sons Bernard Jr., Hursley A. and Dane S.; daughters Evelyn I. Hegent, Marleen K. Thompson and Jeanette M. Kaulukukui; brother Louis P.; sisters Ellen Cho and Lucy Oliveros; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation:8 a.m. Dec. 7 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo. Services:10 a.m. Burial:12:30 p.m. at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Aloha attire.
