Joshua James Kawelo Halemanu, also known as “Sonny” and “Hale,” 88, of Kailua-Kona, a retired Honolulu Fire Department captain and an Army veteran, died. He was born in Kaauhuhu Homestead, Hawaii. He is survived by sons Joshua, Ainsley, Wendell and Cornwell; daughter and caregiver Terrilynn Teves; daughters Maydine Halemanu and Goldie Maldonado; sister Helen Duvauchelle-Halemanu; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Kalahikiola Church, Kapaau, Hawaii. Services: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kawelo Halemanu Family Cemetery, 55-1113 Aina Ui Road, Kaauhuhu Homestead. Casual attire. Flowers welcome. Incorrect information in an obituary published Tuesday.
