JAMES KIMO HELENIHI Age 79, of Wahiawa, Hawaii, passed away November 17, 2012 in Wahiawa. Born July 8, 1933 in Honolulu, Hawaii. James was retired from the Consolidated theaters and a Local 5 member. He is survived by brothers, Errol (Momi) Helenihi, Clem Kaiama; sisters, Myrtle Cebreno, Blossom Kapua. GEORGE B. HAGAR
On October 16, 2012 went to be with the Lord after battling cancer. He was surrounded by family. George was born in 1933 in Northern California. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 1955 and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Fay Daniels on June, 30, 1955. They had three children, Steven, Jack (John), and Leslie. He worked briefly for American Can Co., then moved into radio and TV sales in San Francisco. In 1966 he moved his family to Honolulu, Hawaii to be sales manager at KHON TV, NBC Hawaii. In 1968 they moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he became President & General Manager of WQXI TV. In 1972, George and his family moved back to Honolulu where he became part owner, President and General Manager of KHON TV. Later, he and his business partner Arthur McCoy sold the company to the Des Moines Register Tribune newspaper and George stayed on as President of that broadcast group. In January, 1982, George and Shirley moved to Big Sky, Montana to retire with horses, dogs, fly fishing, skiing and his great passion of golf. He and Shirley loved Big Sky and in an effort to give back to the community, he was Chairman of the Canyon Citizens for a Safer Highway for 12 years. In addition, he was on the Board of Big Sky Chapel, Chairman of Big Sky Country Foundation and in 1991 became one of five founders of Big Sky Western Bank where he served on the board for 19 years, the last five as Chairman of the Board. Family, friends and golf were his passion and in 2011, he shot his age (77!) at the Club at Spanish Peak while playing a round with a dear friend of his. He often said “Next year would be easier because they have to give me another stroke!” He is survived by his wife Shirley, son Steve, (wife) Susan, (children) Andy and Kendall; his son Jack, (children) John and Allie; his daughter Leslie Price, (husband) Mike, (children) Peter and Jack; his sisters Julie Rumsey and Mary Hafner; his brother-in-law Dick Hafner and numerous nieces and nephews. George truly loved his family and friends and Big Sky, Montana. A memorial service was held on October 20th, at Big Sky Chapel, Big Sky, Montana. May 11, 1932 – Nov. 26, 2012 Candy was born in Tokyo, Japan where she met & married her husband. She is survived by her husband Glen, son John (Dodi) daughter Robyn (Mervin), granddaughter Jacqueline, sister’s Kiyoko, Kazuko, Yasuko, & Kimiko. Our beloved mother Eleanor Coop passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the age 82 after her battle with cancer. She is survived by her brother Daniel Goeas, son Douglas Coop his wife Darlene Coop and niece Janice Goeas- Jones. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on the 24th day of Decmeber 1929 “Ms. Ellie” as she was affectionately known, graduated from medical assistant school after 3 years of college and worked as a service representative for HMSA for 30 years befroe retiring. During her retirement years she belonged to and served in many local groups and organizations. Ladies of Elks Auxillary, Emblem Chapter 379, Eagles Lodge, Pearl City and Waikiki Elks Lodges, Fleet Reserve Association Unit 46, Parents without Partners, Square and Round Dance Clubs. All who knew her were touched by her generosity, kindness and passion for serving. Visitation Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Service to begin at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service will be held at 12:45 p.m. at the Diamond Head Memorial Park.
