Yolanda Leialoha Sanchez

YOLANDA LEIALOHA SANCHEZ age 62, of Salt Lake (Aliamanu), passed away peacefully on December 9, 2012 surrounded with her husband of 37 years and her two sons at her bedside. She is an Alumni of Aiea High School, Class of 1968 and also two years Leeward Community College with an Associate’s Degree. She was a retired Customer Service Representative II with First Hawaiian Bank, in Mapunapuna for 35 years. With her husband and best friend for 40 years they made a lifetime of memories that will be inbedded forever. Traveling abroad, family outings (which included fishing, camping, and all other memorable things), time cannot measure the memories that she has given to us. Although she has passed her spirit will remain in our hearts and lives forever. Until we meet again, A hui hou my loving wife and best friend. Yolanda was a loving wife and mother who will be deeply missed. She met many people in her life; whether it was on a personal or professional basis. She was a great listener and a true friend. She is survived by husband, Edward G. Sanchez; sons, Jory E. (Lesley) Sanchez and Justin V.K. Sanchez (Shanese Kaneshiro); granddaughters, Shantel I.M. Sanchez and Chloe L.Y. WILLIAM (BILL) CHARLES VINET,
JR. At age 91, Bill Vinet passed away in Kailua, Hawaii on December 2, 2012. He was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a graduate of Jesuit High School, Loyola University, and Loyola University College of Law. Bill Vinet is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gisele Alice Plourde Vinet of Kailua and six daughters, Madeleine Hogan of Kansas City, MO; Jocelyn Herbison of Pittsford, NY; Lisette Blumhardt of Kailua, HI; Monique Imbert of Princeton, NJ; Michele Hake of Austin, TX; Cybele Harris of Las Vegas, NV; and son, Christopher Vinet of Piney River, VA. Bill Vinet spent 32 years in the U.S. Army retiring in 1978 as a Colonel in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps and as an Appellate Military Judge. He is lovingly remembered by his 7 children, 19 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. John Vianney Church, where he was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, 920 Keolu Drive, Kailua, Hawaii on Friday, January 25, at 10:30 AM. Celebration of Life. Tapped her way to heaven on December 1st 2012 at St. Francis Hospice West at the young age of 84. She was born in San Francisco, CA on December 28, 1927. She is survived by her Husband Robert Paris, Sons Jack Martinez and his wife Nancy, Tom Martinez and his wife Sue, Donald Martinez and by her Daughters Eileen Breedlove and husband Darrell, and Tanya McDuguld. She is also survived by 12 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. Barbara better well known as “Barbie” was retired from Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and while at the Shipyard served as President for Federal Managers Association Chapter 19. After her retirement, she volunteered and served as Coordinator, Tap Dancer and Singer for “The Steptaculars”. She also spent time serving as an Adjudicator for the Hawaii Theatre Council and their Po’okela Awards. On Friday December 28th a “Celebration of Life” will be held at the Elks Club in Waikiki from 5pm to 9pm for her family and friends to share the joy and love that Barbie shared with us. GRACE A. PICKETT
88, of Owensboro, KY passed away 15 October at home with her husband, Ed, at her side. She was born in Three Rivers, Massachusetts to the late William N. and Eva Riopelle Archambault. Grace met and married the love of her life, Colonel (Ret) Ed Pickett in 1944. They traveled the world with their eight children during his military career. Always creative, she designed and sewed, crocheted or knitted clothes as well as elegant hats for her family and friends. One of her favorite hobbies was entering contests. Grace won many prizes by being a contestant on shows such as Queen for a Day, Let’s Make a Deal, Art Linkletter’s House Party. She wrote and published an article on how to try out and be chosen for TV game shows. Venturing out of her comfort zone, Grace earned her pilot’s license while Ed was in Viet Nam. Their last assignment was Hawaii, where they retired and lived for over 25 years. At their Pupukea home she had a kiln where she did ceramics and marketed her creations to local furniture stores. Later they moved to the Hilton Lagoon Apartments and she could be seen daily swimming laps from the Hilton to Ft. DeRussy. Grace was involved with the Sweet Adelines and Honolulu Chorale. Grace and Ed moved back to the mainland in 1995 but her heart was always in Hawaii. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, LTC David Pickett, SSGT Edward Pickett Jr., daughter Kristin Foulke, son-in-law, William DeCoursey, grandson, David DeCoursey and brothers, Bernard Gay and William E. Archambault. In addition to her husband, Ed, she is survived by daughters, Rosemary DeCoursey, Anne Marie Pickett, Ellen Rajewski, Karen DeSosa, son, Robert Pickett; daughters-in-law LTC (Ret) Rosemary Griggs and Tina Pickett; brother Raymond Archambault; sister, Lillian Farkas, sisters-in-law Lorraine and Donna Archambault.
