GRACE A. PICKETT
88, of Owensboro, KY passed away 15 October at home with her husband, Ed, at her side. She was born in Three Rivers, Massachusetts to the late William N. and Eva Riopelle Archambault. Grace met and married the love of her life, Colonel (Ret) Ed Pickett in 1944. They traveled the world with their eight children during his military career. Always creative, she designed and sewed, crocheted or knitted clothes as well as elegant hats for her family and friends. One of her favorite hobbies was entering contests. Grace won many prizes by being a contestant on shows such as Queen for a Day, Let’s Make a Deal, Art Linkletter’s House Party. She wrote and published an article on how to try out and be chosen for TV game shows. Venturing out of her comfort zone, Grace earned her pilot’s license while Ed was in Viet Nam. Their last assignment was Hawaii, where they retired and lived for over 25 years. At their Pupukea home she had a kiln where she did ceramics and marketed her creations to local furniture stores. Later they moved to the Hilton Lagoon Apartments and she could be seen daily swimming laps from the Hilton to Ft. DeRussy. Grace was involved with the Sweet Adelines and Honolulu Chorale. Grace and Ed moved back to the mainland in 1995 but her heart was always in Hawaii. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, LTC David Pickett, SSGT Edward Pickett Jr., daughter Kristin Foulke, son-in-law, William DeCoursey, grandson, David DeCoursey and brothers, Bernard Gay and William E.
