Henry Welokiheiakea‘eloa Niheu Jr., also known as “Papa Kihei” and “Soli,” 69, of Waimea, Hawaii, a Kanaka Maoli activist and an International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees carpenter, died in Honolulu. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by son Kekahikoa; daughters Kala‘iokamalino and Kalamaoka‘aina Niheu, Aloha‘aina Harawira and Keali‘ikauila Hinewhare-Niheu; brothers David and Luther “Hoppy”; sister Karen Gomes; and four grandchildren. Celebration of life at noon Saturday at Iolani Palace. Big Island services pending. Traditional maoli attire. Food donations welcome.
