Melquiades R. “Mel” Ewa Sr., 88, of Waianae, an Army veteran, died in Honolulu. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by sons Melquiades Jr., Glenn and Carl; daughters Darlene and Ashlyn Ewa, and Rollie Henrich; sisters Diosdada Suan and Mary Rose Banuilos; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
