FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

DONALD SHU CHONG YOUNG
DONALD SHU CHONG YOUNG 75, of Honolulu, died on December 22, 2012 at Kaiser Medical Center Moanalua. He was born on July 8, 1937 in Honolulu. From kindergarten through the 8th grade, Donald was educated at Keanae School in Maui where he spent his boyhood years. Upon graduating from St. Louis College, as a member of the Class of 1955, Donald went on to Chaminade University, then to the University of San Francisco where he attained his B.A. in Accounting. Starting out as an employee of First Hawaiian Bank, then onto Bishop Trust, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Naval Supply Center, Donald finally retired in 2000 as a Systems Analyst for the Defense Finance and Accounting Services on Ford Island. Donald enjoyed fishing, diving, bowling and softball when he was younger. After retiring, he especially loved going on cruises each year and looked forward to his annual salmon fishing trip to Alaska. He loved listening to Hawaiian music at home, in the car and even on his iPod while traveling on the airplane. Don will be fondly remembered for his generosity, his friendly demeanor and for being genuinely kind and caring to others. He was a gentle, helpful person who had a wonderful outlook on life. Don was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all. Survived by his wife of 50 years: Marjorie; sons: Darrell (Jamie) and Kevin (Carolyn); daughter: Carrie Lei; grandsons: Carson and Zachary; brother: Alexander In; and sisters: Leilani (Peter) Muzio, Alexis (Sam) Souza, and Betty Jane (Allan) Fisher. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m., Eulogy 10:30-11 a.m., with Mass 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. Philomena Church at 3300 Ala Laulani St in Salt Lake; followed by burial at 2 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
