Gilbert L. Silva, 84, of Keaau, Hawaii, a retired Hawaii County mechanic in Puna, a rancher and an Army veteran, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Janet G.; sons Jeffery, Mark, Bruce and Bradley; brother Robert; sister Mae Louise Gomes; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 5 p.m. Monday at Dodo Mortuary. Services: 6 p.m. Additional visitation: 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
