Mabel Mary Garcia, 80, of Hilo, a Del Monte Packing Co. papaya packer, died in Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Hilo. She is survived by son Dennis; daughters Virginia Stephens, Aileen Penovaroff, Lenore Sawin and Phyllis Garcia; sisters Josephine Nash, Isabella Flores, Barbara “Mazie” Jackson, Margaret Lopez and Betty Lou Torres; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 4 p.m. Thursday at Dodo Mortuary. Services: 5:30 p.m. Additional visitation: 10 a.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
