SGM (RET.) LEONARD POPS KLING
On December 17, 2012, Leonard “Pops” Kling, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, passed away at the age of 89. He was born in New York. Pops was raised and joined the National Guard in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also served in the Army and fought in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and retired from military service after 30+ years. Afterwards, Pops taught JROTC for 10 years at Saint Louis High School and continued his leadership and contributions as a member of many organizations: The Military Order of the Purple Heart, Army Sergeant Majors Association, Association of the U.S. Army, Non-Commissioned Officers Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Old Soldiers of Hawaii and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He is survived by his wife Antonita “Toni” Kling, stepsons Kevin De Vera, and Marshall De Vera, Jr. (Leoni); step- daughters Marsha Nelson (Jerry), Diane Ferreira, Angie Tunoa (Tony), and Jenna Horton (Charles); seven step- grandchildren, cousins, and other relatives on the mainland, and his faithful pet “Bella.” He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glendeene Kling (1988) and his son Donald Kling (1999). Services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Borthwick Mortuary Mauka, 1330 Maunakea Street, Honolulu, HI 96817. Viewing starts at 9:00 a.m. and the funeral service starts at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, 45-349 Kamehameha Hwy., Kaneohe, HI 96744 at 2:00p.m. Casual attire. CECELIA ANN EDWARDS
Lovingly known by friends and family as “Toots”, departed for heaven on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Jackson North Hospital in Miami, Florida, at the age of 52. Born on September 30, 1960, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was the youngest of three children. She was raised in Wahiawa and graduated from Leilehua High School in 1978. After attending Honolulu Community College for one year, she moved to Oakland, California, in 1980 where she attended Polly Priest Business College. Several years later, she settled in Miami, Florida where she married Ernest Edwards. Cecelia was free-spirited and enjoyed the simple things in life. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an incredibly devoted fan of professional tennis and football, and to her delight, was hired to work with security teams for several professional football games in Miami. Her well-known passion was working as a chef and catering special events. She is predeceased by her father, Charles Williams Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories; her husband, Ernest Edwards, her mother, RoseMarie Doral, one sister, Clara D. Priester, one brother, Charles W. Smith, Jr., her stepfather, Richard L. Doral (“Pops”), two stepbrothers; Charles Doral and Jeffrey Doral, one stepsister, Francine D. Higashi, one brother-in-law, Dwayne E. Priester, three nephews; Damon V. Allen, Brandon C. Allen, and Isaac J. Smith, two nieces; Clarisse J. Smith and Candace J. Akui, one goddaughter, Charelle Bethel, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. In fulfillment of Cecelia’s wishes, a private gathering of family and friends will take place at Waimea Bay Beach Park in the spring of 2013 to disperse her ashes and celebrate her life. Cecelia will especially be remembered for her love of life and spirit of adventure that allowed her to explore diverse interests and places. She will be missed immensely.

Age 69, of Honolulu passed away at her home December 17th, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 9th, 1943. She and her parents, Virgil & Capitola Poch, settled to Long Beach, California in 1948. A graduate of USC, 1965, BA in Psychology, member of the Gamma Phi sorority. She moved to Honolulu in 1967, and worked as a Vice President Media Buyer for some of the major advertising agencies in the islands. Risa was active in organizations such as Honolulu Advertising Federation Board of Directors, Art Academy of Honolulu and Honolulu Symphony Guild. Most notable and dear to her heart was her involvement with Friends of Hawaii Kai Public Library. A beautiful person, inside and out. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, generosity, integrity, perseverance, and sincerity. She will truly be missed. She is survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary & Mason Dittmar of Gardnerville NV, cousin Lorelie Edwards of Geneva NE, and son and best friend Chris. Private services.
