MARIE B. FOSTER Marie Eleanor Brite Foster passed away at the age of 91 on February 6, 2013, in Mountain View, Hawaii. The daughter of Cecilia Anderson and George Thomas Brite, she was predeceased by brothers Harry, James, George and Vernon, her beloved husband of 57 years, John Lucas (Jack) Foster, and their daughter Mary Kathleen Foster. She is survived by her children, Colleen Foster, Sharon Testo (Russ), and Elizabeth Palmer (Hutch), her grandchildren, Vanessa Washington (Willie), Victoria Walker, John, Shannon, and Conor Palmer, and her great-grandchildren Zahra and Max Washington, and many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Honolulu, Marie attended Aliiolani School and graduated from Roosevelt High School as a member of the National Honor Society. She began business life with Bishop National Bank (predecessor to First Hawaiian Bank). She spent most of her career with First Federal Savings and Loan where she started as a teller, rose to Branch Manager, opened both the Kaimuki and Makiki branches, began and lead their Personnel Department. She retired as an Assistant Vice President in 1984 to spend more time with her grand- children. She was president of the Honolulu Toastmistress Club and the Honolulu Zonta Club, an international organization working to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. Marie liked entertaining and artistic pastimes such as music, flowers and pottery. Her grandchildren were her joy. She appreciated her last few years at Kilohana Day Care and the supplemental care provided by Arcadia and El Sela Ranch. She will be missed by all her family. Interment will be private. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Diamond Head Memorial Park Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Hospice Hawaii or Hospice of Hilo.

Karl Massahiro Tsukazaki

KARL MASAHIRO TSUKAZAKI
61, of Honolulu, passed away from pancreatic cancer on January 27, 2013. Karl was employed by Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort for 27 years in the Property Operations Department, until his retirement in July 2012. For many years, using his mechanical and electrical skills, he took pride and enjoyment in helping to engineer beautiful, award winning Aloha Week floats for the Hilton. He was previously employed by the Kahala Hilton, Prince Kuhio Hotel, Hyatt Regency Waikiki, and Ala Moana Hotel. Karl was devoted to helping those who needed a hand. He volunteered to run errands, do handyman repairs, pack and move households, help with home renovations, and would check in on family, friends, and the elderly to see if they needed anything done. He touched many lives, and will be dearly missed by all. Karl is survived by Tomoko, his wife of 17 years, parents George and Jane, sisters Georgia Jenny and Jan, mother in-law Yooko Yamashiro, and sister in-law Katsumi Yamashiro. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Ko’olau. Visitation at 2:30 pm and service at 3:30 pm.

Wallace Tadashi Onuma

WALLACE TADASHI ONUMA Of Honolulu, passed on February 2, 2013 at the age of 92. Wallace is survived by his sons, Malcolm Onuma (Gail) and Lambert Onuma; grand- children, Michelle (Steven) Wong, Ryan Onuma, Kathleen Onuma Murray, Kristine (Lou) Cozzo, and Mark Onuma; great- grandchildren Miki Onuma, Cody Jensen, Katelynn Jensen, Tanner Wong, Drew Murray, Gianna Cozzo, and Koa Onuma. In 1941 Mr. Onuma was drafted by the US Army, where he served as an original member of the 100th assigned to Company B first and then to Headquarters Company in World War II (1941-1945). After the Army he wed his high school sweetheart, Jane Miranda, where they spent the better part of their lives happily raising their children and then grandchildren. He worked for the US Postal Service for more than 30 years before he retired. Mr. Onuma loved to play golf, garden and watch sports. The Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at Honolulu Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Visitation begins at 9:30 am and service to start at 11 am. Aloha attire and please no flowers.
