Rebecca Anne Kendro

Posted On February 20th, 2013 -

REBECCA ANNE KENDRO
February 12, 1940 – January 30, 2013 Rebecca Anne Kendro was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Gene and Martha Nicolini. Growing up in the Michiana area with her five brothers and sisters, she spent many a day at the family cottage on Diamond Lake where her love of water was established as a true Aquarian! A graduate of Mishawaka High School, she went on to Indiana University where she met her future husband, Ken Kendro. Married on June 6, 1959, they soon moved to Indonesia where Noni was born in Bandung, Indonesia. In 1962, Becky and Ken moved back to Indiana and Kurt was born at St. Joseph’s hospital in the middle of a Mishawaka blizzard! Soon after that blizzard and many more to follow, they decided they needed to be in year-round warm temperatures. In 1966, they put the Midwest winters behind them, and moved to the beautiful beaches and warm temperatures of Kailua where they found the Aloha spirit! Becky fell in love with the splendor of the beaches and it would soon become a favorite spot for picnics and family gatherings. In 1967, Chris was born at the old Kaiser Hospital and Becky started work at the Hawaii Medical Association, and worked her way up from a clerk, legislative lobbyist, office manager, to Executive Assistant, Becky had a tremendous impact at the legislature and the medical community of Hawaii. Becky later continued her work in supporting the medical community at Pacific Health Research Institute before finally retiring to spend more time with friends, family and travel. Becky had an incredible talent with sewing and crafts. Her most special and cherished moments were those spent with friends of the Fibre Guild and Hui, using beads or anything they could design! She loved the fine arts, from the opera, musicals, and dance to Indonesian Gamelan! Her passion for travel took her around the world with friends and family. Please join us to remember our mother at: Oahu Cemetery 2162 Nuuanu Avenue Saturday, February 23, 2013 Visitation from 4:00-5:00pm and service at 5:00pm We will miss our mother and will always remember her infectious smile, hearty laugh, and passion for life. Noni, Kurt, Chris, and Sir Bobby
