FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Walden
ELIZABETH (BETTY) ANN WALDEN Age 77, passed away on February 20th, 2013. She was born in Rockland, Maine, on August 28, 1935, the daughter of Frank and Rena Call. Betty graduated from Orono High school in 1953, and Gorham State Teachers' College in 1957. She was a first grade teacher for a few years prior to meeting her future husband William Walden, who was an officer in the Navy. They were married in July of 1962 at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, and went to Kauai for their honeymoon. She lived in Hawaii for over 40 years, with fifteen years in Volcano on the Big Island, and most of the rest near Hawaii Kai on Oahu. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and she loved wired-hair fox terriers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Commander William Walden USN, and her sister, Jayne. She is survived by her two sons, John and James Walden, her grandchildren, Nathan and Malia Walden, and her sisters, Rita Desjardins and Sandra Jenness. She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous with 25 years sober. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, March 2nd, 2pm, at Franklin Hill Foursquare Church in Yakima, WA. Another memorial service will be in Honolulu, Saturday, March 9th, 2pm, at Waiokeola Congregational Church, 4705 Kilauea Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to WWW.ALZ.org for Alzheimer's research.
