BONIFACE STEPHEN KAUWEOKAOHELANI AIU SR.
Boniface Stephen Kauweokaohelani Aiu Sr. was a native Hawaiian of Kailua, Kona ma ka mokupuni o Keawe born on September 2, 1923. He graduated from Konawaena High School and sought higher education on O’ahu. He started in the Fire Department in 1942 as a hose man and retired in 1980 as the Fire Chief. Boniface had five children with Margaret Maiki Aiu, hula master – Karen, Boniface Jr. (deceased), Coline, Guy and Scott. He also had one brother Francis of the Honolulu Fire Department (deceased) and sister Annie Nobriga. He enjoyed his grandchildren and especially his great-grand- children. Special mahalo to Jane and the entire Fellmeth Family. He gives a special mahalo piha loa to caregivers, Bernie Kubo; Bennet Namahoe; Christine Silva and Dalyn. Chief Aiu peacefully passed on February 27, 2013 at the age of 89. Visitation will be at 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at Hale Kinai Ahi 636 South Street on March 24, 2013. Services to follow.
