SADAO TACHIBANA July 11, 1924 March 7, 2013 Sadao (Sam) was born on Lanai, raised in Kaunakakai, Molokai, and lived most of his adult life in Pepeekeo, Hawaii. He joined the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, 2nd Battalion, "H" Company in 1943. Returning from the war he met and married the former Mitsuko Haraguchi, who predeceased him. He was employed by Orchid Isle Auto Center. He was an active member of the Kinoole Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He passed away peacefully in Mililani at the age of 88. Sadao is survived by daughters Gail Tachibana and Merle Yusi, wife of Col (ret) Michael Yusi, grandsons Sadao Ross (Rosa) Narikiyo and Dustin (Laudena Guzman-Perez) Narikiyo, and great grand- children Payton, Karsten and Rayna. Also surviving are his sisters Doris Kanemitsu, Betsy (Larry) Irei and Dorothy English and brother Walter (Sandra) Matsumoto. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Mililani Memorial Park Mauka Chapel at 10:30 am. Visitation begins at 9:30 am. Burial will be private in Hilo. Casual attire, no flowers and no monetary offering, please.
