JESSE MARTIN DOYLE Passed away on February 11, 2013 at Kuakini Medical Center. He was born on October 10, 1922, in Paris, France. Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Alwine Sophie (Horning) Doyle, his twin brother, Edward Doyle Jr. and both of his parents. Jesse is survived by his niece, Waltraud (Horning) (+Horst) Lucke of Bremerhaven, Germany; his great nephew, Thorsten (+Denise) Lucke of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and his great niece, Karen (Lucke) (+Thorsten) Kneifel of Wremen, Germany. CLEO GIAVIS EVANS
Cleo Giavis Evans passed away March 5, 2013 at Vintage Coventry Senior Living in San Francisco. She was born in Boston on October 5, 1922 and moved to Honolulu in 1930. In 1942, she married Robert Harlan Evans her husband of 64 years. She is survived by her sons Harlan and Rob, three grandchildren Terrence Evans, Bridget Evans, and Adrienne Williams, and three great- grandchildren Ryan Evans, Megan Evans, and Zoe Williams. She is also survived by her first cousins Coralie Vellis and Thalia Tuohy and their many children and grandchildren. Her ashes will be scattered off Waikiki where she will join her husband who passed away December 6, 2006. We were truly blessed with wonderful parents and they will be missed by all. A private celebration of Cleo’s life will be held in Honolulu in early June 2013. Cleo was well known for her enormous creative energy and talents, and for her accomplishments in classical piano, painting, cuisine, design, fashion, journalism, public relations and promotion, golf, Bridge, volunteer work, and her impeccable taste in all that she touched. She was truly a force of life and was loved and admired for it!

Charles Lee Giddens, 66 of Papakolea passed away at his home in Kapa’a, Kauai on February 14, 2013. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1965. Charles was a Vietnam Veteran with the U.S. Air Force & a retired firefighter with the Honolulu Fire Department. Charles is survived by his wife, Beverly Sakai-Giddens; mother, Cecilia Lindo; brothers, Marshall “Hutso” Giddens, William Giddens & Paul Lindo; sons, Howard “Ikaika” Giddens, Imiloa Sakai-Giddens & step son Robert Imai; daughters, Kananiokaaina “Kanani” Giddens- Hulama, Puanani Giddens- Cortez & step daughter Lori Imai. While our hearts are broken, we are comforted by the knowledge that she is finally out of pain and no longer suffering. WALLACE PERRY VIERRA
Wallace was born on May 27, 1925. He was the second son of Mary Perry Vierra and Manuel Vierra. The Vierra family lived in Pu’unui. He joined the Army at the young age of seventeen. After getting out of the Army, he went to work at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as a ship fitter. He retired after 35 years of service. Wally bought a home in Makakilo where he lived most of his adult life. Uncle Wally was a kind, loving and generous person who touched the lives of many. He was like a second father to all of his nieces and nephews and will always be remembered. He is survived by his nieces Marie Paulino, Roberta Mejia, Wallis Freitas, Kathy Smith and Joddy Manuwai and nephews, Victor Vierra and Robert F. Vierra, Jr. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Nani Vierra and hanai niece Renee Kawelo. A celebration of life is planned for March 30, 2013 at Hawaii Memorial Park Mortuary. Visitation at 9:00 and service at 10:00. Lunch to follow. Scattering of ashes to be done at a later date.
