Teodorico D. Mendoza, also known as “Chief” and “Ekong,” 88, of Pepeekeo, Hawaii, a retired Hilo Coast Processing Co. crane operator and Hakalau Sugar Plantation Co. employee, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He is survived by sons Teodorico Jr., Duane, Benjamin, Randall, Clay and Paul; brothers Isabel, Ernesto, Fedencio and Rudy; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation: 5 p.m. Sunday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 7 p.m. Additional visitation: 9 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Papaikou. Mass: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire.
