Akira Tanaka, 86, of Hilo, a retired Hilo Medical Center radiology department supervisor and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died in Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. He was born in Wailea, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Miyome; son Rodney; daughters Christine Wakida and Aileen Hayashi; sisters Betty Abe, Toshiko Campos and Mitzie Shikuma; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation: 4 p.m. Tuesday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 5 p.m. Casual attire.
