LINCOLN L. VICTOR

Posted On June 15th, 2013 -

LINCOLN L. VICTOR Lincoln L. “Uncle Vic” Victor, 77, of Wai’anae, HI, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. He was born to George Peter Victor and Lillian Mahi’ai Kuwehu Victor on June 18, 1935, in Honolulu, Territory of Hawai’i. After graduating from Kaimuki High School in 1953, Lincoln volunteered for combat service in Korea and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He joined other sons of Hawai’i as they formed the only Provisional Hawaiian Infantry Company (in the history of the Marine Corps) for the 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Brigade, 1st Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force. During his combat tour in Korea, he served as a rifleman, BAR gunner, and upon his promotion to Sergeant (E-4), he lead a .30 caliber machine gun team. After a year in Korea, he returned to the United States and was hand-selected to close his service with the Marine Corps as a military policeman at the Marine Corps 1st Battalion Supply Depot at Barstow, California. Lincoln was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1957. In 2010, he joined other Korean War Veterans and returned to South Korea to attend the 60th Commitment and Friendship observation sponsored by the South Korean Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. Lincoln worked a number of different jobs – truck driver with Delivery Service, Inc., armed guard with Burns International Security, four years as an armed courier with Honolulu Armored Car Company, meat cutter from 1964 to 1978 (as a member of the Amalgamated Meatcutters’ Union of North America) with Food Pantry (Waikiki), Star Market, Times, and Holiday Mart – before he found his calling as a State Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO) in 1979. He worked in the Executive Protection Unit from 1980 to 1990 and was a driver/bodyguard for Governors George Ariyoshi and John Waihe’e, as well as their families. Later in his law enforcement career the SLEO merged with the Department of Public Safety, Sheriff’s Division and he stood watch as a Deputy Sheriff at the State Capitol. In 1995, he became the acting Sergeant in charge of the uniformed officers at Washington Place. Lincoln also served as a member of the Sheriff’s Special Operations Group (SOG). He retired in 2000 after a career of 26 years. Lincoln enjoyed skydiving and was a member of Aloha Skydivers in the 1960s. He was an active member of the Wai’anae Jaycees from 1964 to 1985 when he “roostered out” at age 50. He later became a member of the Hui Hau’oli club, which consisted of friends from the Jaycees. He was also a member of VFW HI Post 849 in Wai’anae. Lincoln was instrumental in helping to bring the wide ranging Victor families together and organizing biennial Victor ‘Ohana reunions. His love and devotion to his wife was constant. Upon his retirement in 2000, his personal mission was to chauffeur and escort his wife to all of her visitations as a mentor for DOE vice-principals in training and student teachers in the University of Phoenix. He enjoyed traveling and embarked on a series of adventurous cross country trips with his wife. Their goal was to visit every state. A trip planned for this summer would have gotten them 3/4 of the way to their goal. Married for 53 years Lincoln was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Linda M. Victor; sons Mark L. Victor (Jessica), Dwight P. Victor (Diane), Chad E. Victor (Gabrial), and daughter Karen L. Victor; grandchildren Jesse, Kody, Kawai, Anuhea, Sunshine, Angel, Nicholas, ‘Olena, ‘Ohia, and ‘Olapa; siblings Momilani Abrams, Peyton O. Victor, and sister-in-law Lily Pua Victor; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity to friends and strangers alike. We all love and miss him very much. Visitation 5:00 pm on Tuesday June 18, 2013, at the Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Funeral service at 6:30 pm, with cremation to follow. Aloha/casual attire; flowers welcome.
