LILY TOSHIE SAKASEGAWA Age 81, passed away on May 30, 2013, in San Jose, California. Born on March 14, 1932, in Honolulu, she was the youngest daughter of the late Gihei and Ritsu (Nakagawa) Ishihara, and stepdaughter of the late Yoshie Shinno. Lily was the youngest of 5 children. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1950 and received her degree in Home Economics from the University of Hawaii in 1954. After graduation, Lily moved to California to marry and gave up her teaching career to care for her family. Lily's greatest joy was her family. She surrounded them with love and sacrificed all for her children such that they might succeed in life. Lily was a fighter. She was a lung cancer survivor and fought herself out of hospice care in June of 2012. We lost her suddenly to natural causes and miss her terribly, but we are truly grateful that she left us with a full heart and without suffering. Lily leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Mineo, daughters: Amy (Jay), Denise (Ed), son, Alan, sister, Sylvia Ifuku, grandchildren: Derek, John, Taryn, Alex and Amanda, and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family memorial service has been held. Committal service at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl, to follow.
