FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Michael Akira Ikezawa
MICHAEL AKIRA IKEZAWA 87 years old, passed away June 7, 2013 in Riverside, CA. Michael was born in Osaka, Japan on 2/17/26 and moved to Honolulu at 5 yrs old with his brother Andrew and sister Elizabeth when his father, Rev. Benjamin Shuntaro Ikezawa became the pastor at Good Samaritan Church in Kaimuki. He attended McKinley High and graduated in 1944 then served in the US Army as a Warrant Officer for CIC Intelligence until 1949. He received a BS in Engineering Math from the University of Michigan in 1953 and a 2nd Lt's commission through the Air Force ROTC. In 1964, he received his MA in Mathematics from the AFIT grad program at University of Michigan where he met and married Sherry (Shahin) Wekili. Michael's AF career focused on computer programming spanning through Europe, Omaha, LA and Washington DC. He retired as a major in 1970 and worked for Logicon in Palos Verdes until 1978 when he decided to pursue his love of photography, philosophy and computers. He and Sherry moved to Riverside in 1991 to be near March AF base and enjoy their retirement. He is survived by wife Sherry, and his sister-in-law, Wilma Ikezawa of Honolulu, nieces Andree Fallas and Annelle Ishida of Honolulu, Sachiko Nakamura of Kyoto, Japan and Wendy Kohashi of Arlington, VA; nephews Yasuhiko Ikezawa of Nara, Japan and Willand Ikezawa of San Francisco, CA, and their families.
