In memory of JACK KAAWALAUOLE PALK Jack K. Palk was born on November 23, 1924 in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father Robert Palk and mother Rose Palk lived on Jack Lane in Nuuanu where his Mom raised flowers to sell leis at the boat harbor. Jack attended Ma'ema'e Elementary School and graduated from St. Louis High School. After high school, Jack served in the Army for several years and was stationed in Alaska. He attended law school on the GI bill at the University of San Francisco; it was there that he met the love of his life, Vera ("Mack") Jean Palk. They were married March 2nd, 1951 and moved to Honolulu to begin their new life together. Jack began his career as a staff attorney with Castle and Cooke in 1951, where he eventually became a Vice President in their Land Division (Oceanic Properties). He was appointed by then Gov. John A. Burns and served as chairman of the State Real Estate Commission for eight years, he served as chair of the planning committee for the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, and was past president of the Honolulu Board of Realtors in 1969 as well as subsequent Realtor of the Year. In the early 1970's Jack was hired as President of Security Title Corporation and stayed with the company until his retirement in early 2003. Jack was an avid golfer and longtime member and past President of Mid Pacific Country Club. Jack was a devoted husband and a kind, loving father and grandfather. Jack suffered from the slow debilitating effects of Alzheimer's disease for many years and passed away on May 24, 2013 at home. He was preceded in death by his wife Mack (Feb. 5, 2009). Jack is survived by his brothers Francis Lum and Jack K. Park and sister Mayrose Corbin. He is survived by his children David P. Palk (Julie) and Nancy P. Miller (Joseph) both of Kailua, Hawaii, and Andrew K. Palk (Marcia) of Bellevue, WA., six beautiful grandchildren: Cameron, Kyle, Katelin, Allegra, Lauren and Tanner as well as many nieces and nephews. Private Services were recently held by the family. The family would like to thank Jack's long time caregivers, doctors and Islands Hospice staff for their service, support and compassion. The family requests any monetary donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Aloha Chapter.
