HARRY YOUNG HOON SOO Our beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather passed away on July 18, 2013, at the age of 81. The eldest of 8 children, Harry always wore the mantle of responsibility. His serious demeanor hid a quirky sense of humor and a loving dedication to his family. An Iolani high school graduate, Harry received a Management Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and was also a US Army veteran. He worked at Amfac for 33 years, starting as staff engineer in the sugar division and progressing to senior positions throughout the company. He started Amfac’s first plant nursery in Waipahu, and was appointed President of the Nursery Division in 1978. He then went on to work in diversified agriculture and retired from Amfac in 1990. Never one to remain idle, Harry then joined Hawaiian Host, Inc. as VP of Finance and Administration until 1996. In his retirement years, he continued to work hard at managing his family’s business affairs, satisfying his thirst for knowledge and technology, travelling, and taking care of his family. He is survived by wife Pearl Wong Soo; son Bradley (Diane) Soo; daughter Bethany (Wayne Jr.) Kouchi; sisters Jennie (Kenneth) Chow, Evelyn (Francis) Shiroma, Kathleen (Phillip) Ong; granddaughter Brianna, and granddog Sparky.
