Robert Kiyoshi Sasaki, “Bob”
ROBERT KIYOSHI SASAKI, "BOB" 72, of Honolulu, a loving husband, father, brother, friend and colleague to many, passed away peacefully at Queens Medical Center on Sunday, July 28, 2013. Bob was born on January 12, 1941, at Kapiolani Medical Center, to Robert and Maizie Sasaki. After graduating from Kailua High School, Bob received a Bachelor's degree from Pomona College and Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. Bob was an iconic member of Alexander & Baldwin's executive team throughout a distinguished 44 year career, before retiring as Vice Chairman of A&B Properties in 2010. His leadership, hard work and loyalty contributed immeasurably to A&B status as Hawaii's premier leading real estate company. Bob was recently recognized with a Lifetime Achievement award from NAIOP Hawaii. Bob's insight & guidance extended far beyond the business community into numerous charitable boards including the Boys & Girls Club of Honolulu, Kuakini Medical Center Foundation, American Diabetes Association as well as Star of the Sea School and Luana Gardens, where he served as board president. Bob has also been an influential presence as a board member of Waterhouse Inc. and the University Of Hawaii School Of Architecture Advisory Board. Bob lived through principles of hard work, integrity and innate benevolence. "Give a man a fish, and feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and feed him for a lifetime." Bob was an amazing teacher to all who knew him. His principles and direction have influenced countless individuals throughout various communities in Hawaii. Bob is survived by his wife, Vivian; son, Robert; daughter, Jessica (Dean) Uehara; mother, Maizie; two brothers, Richard (Iris) Sasaki, John (Patricia) Sasaki; and step-brother, Charles (Dale) Keyes. A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 3rd, Visitation 9:30AM, Service: 10:30AM, at Christ United Methodist Church, 1639 Keeaumoku St, Honolulu HI. All are welcome to celebrate the life of the late Robert Kiyoshi Sasaki. Aloha attire. No flowers.
