FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Derrick L. Martin
DERRICK L. MARTIN Age 53, a Honolulu Police Officer, passed away peacefully August 5, 2013 at his family home. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, JoAnn (Moniz); sons Michael & John; mother Priscilla Martin; brothers Kimball, Robert (Renee), Kaipo (Elizabeth) & sister Lani (Gerard) Daguio. Born & raised in Kaneohe & a graduate of Castle High School (1978). He served in the United States Army Avionic Navigation & Flight Control Equipment Repair with the 347th Transportation Company, 45th Support Group at Fort Shafter, HI (1978); State of Hawaii Corrections; Hawaii Army National Guard Engineering Unit (1983); Hawaii Air National Guard & the 154th Security Forces Squadron (2001) & served 25 years as a proud Honolulu Police officer in various areas of law enforcement. Following the events of September 11, 2001, he became a KC-135 Boom Operator in the 203rd Air Refueling Squadron. He deployed numerous times with the 203rd in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom logging 1955 flight hours, 487 sorties, including 14 combat & support missions. He enjoyed spending time with his family, dogs & many friends. Services to be held at Diamond Head Mortuary, August 22, 5:00-9:00 pm.
